Workshop 2
with Aidy and Roz Gilmour
Over the years we have developed a reputation for delivering fun, accessible workshops making dolls and animal figures of all kinds. In fact, we've pretty much seen and done it all - Witches, animals dressed as people, old men, craggy sea dogs, Lions dressed as explorers, children, wizards, down and outs and even an alligator in a cocktail dress! So this year we have thrown the rule book out of the window. Just turn up to class with the idea of character you wish to make - as the title suggests it can be anything from the characters in the Wizard of Oz to a little mouse for a mouse house - anything goes! Over two days we will guide you through all the stages of bringing your chosen character to life. You will learn how to sculpt from polymer clay without molds, you will paint, wig/flock and dress your creation. This is a workshop to make a miniature figure of your design - maybe that jolly cook for your Tudor kitchen or the troll who lives in the magical caves - the only limit is your imagination. No previous experience making characters is required.
Tools to bring: Tools needed: We will provide all the tools you will need but it may be helpful to bring along a lamp for detailed work. The only thing we would ask is that students can give some indication of what they wish to make in advance of the class so we can bring along any special items you may need. The only limit is your imagination!
